Event Details

Did you know over 98% of Illinois is privately owned? That leaves only 2% of the State’s Resources left for the public to enjoy. That doesn’t mean that all the wildlife is on just that meager 2%, generalist species have adapted to urban and suburban living. There may be opportunities closer than you think! Also, learn why hunting is so important to wildlife populations. Gain general information and resources to start hunting in IL, access (IRAP vs. Private vs. Public), general needs before hunting, locate public lands, legal methods of take, and just general tips and tricks for hunting on public land and where non-hunting people may interface with hunters. Lists will be provided for things you may be able to hunt and chose a hunting log/journal to suite your future! Presented by Nicky Strahl, District Wildlife Biologist for Cook & DuPage Counties, Illinois Department of Natural Resources-Wildlife Division.
